More About Your Options
Bus Fare Boxes
BREEZE bus single ride and Day Passes are sold on the bus. Simply use the bus fare box to pay with cash when you board the bus. Bus fare boxes only sell single rides, Day Passes, and Region Plus Day Passes which includes COASTER. (both regular and senior/disabled/medicare)
Ticket Vending Machines
COASTER and SPRINTER single train tickets are sold exclusively at station ticket vending machines (TVMs). You cannot purchase one-way, single trip, round trip tickets or Day Passes on board trains. You must purchase your ticket on the day of travel from a station TVM.
NCTD Customer Service
Monthly passes, LIFT tickets and discounted monthly passes (must show I.D.) are sold from NCTD customer service locations at the Oceanside, Vista and Escondido Transit Centers.
College Passes
If you’re eligible for a discounted college monthly pass or free bus sticker (UCSD only), you must receive the pass from your campus. NCTD does not sell these passes at customer service locations.
Transit eStore
Purchase monthly passes online using the Compass Card!

Dial "511" toll free and say "Compass Card" to reach the Compass Card customer service center to purchase or reload your monthly pass over the phone.
Downtown Transit Store
One conveniently located store in downtown San Diego has everything you need for NCTD fares, Metropolitan Transit System bus and trolley riding, including:
- Monthly passes for SDMTS buses, trolleys, and the COASTER
- DayTripper Tickets
- SDMTS Bus & San Diego Trolley Tokens
- Brochures and other information
- Special transit collectibles
The Transit Store is within walking distance of the downtown San Diego Santa Fe Depot COASTER station, located at 102 Broadway (corner of First Avenue). Phone number is (619) 234-1060. The Transit Store accepts cash, credit cards, checks, Traveler Checks, and Commuter Check Voucher. The Transit Store is open weekdays 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. It is closed on weekends and holidays.
