About the Ride Share Program
The NCTD Ride Share Program is a peer transportation program for adults (age 18-59) and older adults (age 60+) who reside in North San Diego County and are actively participating in mental health services. The program is FREE and strives to increase access to services and activities and overall independence for all who participate.
Ride share services will allow individuals with barriers to transportation to take part in mental health and medical services and to engage in social activities. Through the ride share program volunteer drivers who own their own vehicle provide transportation to their peers with limited transportation options.
Although participants must reside in North San Diego County transportation can be provided to destinations anywhere in San Diego and neighboring counties. Why not use Ride Share to go shopping, meet with friends, or attend important appointments. It’s FREE!
Who Qualifies?
Are you:
- A resident of North San Diego County?
- Participating in individual or group counseling services?
- A Mental Health Club House member?
- Participating in a County Mental Health program?
- Taking prescribed medication to relieve emotional, behavioral or mental discomforts?
- Participating in mental health services provided by a social service agency or private practitioner?
- Residing in a County Mental Health housing program (e.g. transitional housing, board and care, etc)
- There are lots of ways to qualify. Give the Mobility Management Program a call and see if you qualify.
Why Participate?
As a Volunteer Driver:
You will be providing a service to your peers who have limited transportation options. You will meet new people and possibly gain new friends. NCTD will also provide travel reimbursement in the form of gas cards to help with your expenses.
As a Rider Participant
You don't have to stay inside. You will be able to keep appointments, go shopping, learn more about the beautiful county we live in, take in a movie, and visit friends and family without having to wait for them to come to you. What a way to increase your independence and gain new found freedom.
