NCTD has a free Mobility & Travel Training program that makes it easy to learn to travel on public transit in North San Diego County!
Having a hard time taking the first step aboard the transit system? Not sure where to find the bus or the train? Are you overwhelmed by the system? The Mobility & Travel Training Program will teach you how to use and understand the public transportation system.
What is Mobility Training?
Mobility Training provides personalized training to individuals with disabilities, who use wheelchairs or scooters on NCTD's transit system. The training teaches individuals how to maneuver aboard the NCTD transit fleet, including BREEZE buses, COASTER trains and SPRINTER light rail trains.
What is Travel Training?
Travel Training focuses on educating seniors and individuals with disabilities on how to navigate the local bus and train system safely and confidently throughout their local community. NCTD also has classroom travel training at many locations including North County-area senior centers.
What is Train-the-Trainer?
Are you frustrated with not knowing how to use the transportation system? Having a hard time teaching your students or clients on using public transportation? The Mobility/Travel Training program also offers the Train-the-Trainer Program. The Train-the-Trainer program focuses on mentoring and teaching staff at schools and companies that work with individuals with disabilities and seniors the tools and knowledge of using the public transportation system and services. The Train-the-Trainer program teaches the fundamentals of NCTD services, safety, accessibility, and trip planning; giving staff the foundation to confidently teach their students or clients how to safely and confidently access, use and catch NCTD BREEZE with ease along with all of NCTD transportation services.
How to Apply
The Mobility/Travel Training Program is a free service provided by NCTD to help seniors and individuals with disabilities become knowledgeable on using NCTD transit systems. Let NCTD be your guide, come take a ride and explore your opportunities on NCTD BREEZE buses, SPRINTER, and COASTER trains.
