EV Chargers at Oceanside Transit Center (OTC)

NCTD customers can now charge their electric cars at seven EV charging stations at the Oceanside Transit Center (OTC) parking lot, free of charge.

Background

NCTD has constructed seven electric vehicle charging stations at the Oceanside Transit Center. Owners of electric vehicles—customers and members of the public alike—may use these 220-volt stations to charge their electric cars. Fully charging an electric vehicle at each station takes approximately five hours.

The charging stations at the Oceanside Transit Center—the largest such station in North San Diego County—use direct solar power, collected by solar panels on top of a carport structure built over the charging stations. When the charging stations are not in use, the solar power is used to provide energy for other systems at the transit station.

How to Use the EV Chargers

Here's what you need to know to be able to use the EV charging stations:

  1. Obtain a "Blink" InCard.
InCards are available for free after enrolling with the project (A credit card is required for enrollment, you will not be charged) and registering with the Blink Network, a nationwide directory of electric vehicle charging stations.

    • Go to the Blink Membership page to begin the registration process
    • On the Blink Membership page, select "Blink Plus" or "Blink Basic" in the right-hand navigation
    • On the next page, fill out the membership information and choose a password
    • The next page will request credit card information as if making a purchase. Your account will not be charged. At the bottom of the page, make sure to check "Please Send me an Incard".
    • Once you receive your card, log back in to the blink site and go to "My Membership". In the nav bar below, select "My Incards" and then select "Activate Incard".
  2. Your card is now activated.
  3. Swipe your "Blink" InCard at the OTC.
To use the stations, swipe your InCard at the top of the charging station and follow the instructions to enter your code to enable the charger.
