Padres Service on the COASTER

Padres fans can now reach Petco Park for all home games on the COASTER, even on Sundays! Click here to download the new COASTER schedule for the 2008 season (PDF). COASTER Here are the details on service to home Padres games:

Monday through Thursday
For home games Monday through Thursday evenings, catch the regularly scheduled southbound trains that leave Oceanside at 4:55 or 5:30 p.m. These trains make all stops along the COASTER route. The return northbound train for Mon. - Thurs. night games will depart 50 minutes after the final out of the game or special event with an absolute departure time of 12 midnight, regardless of extra innings. There will be no late night COASTER service for weekday afternoon games beginning at 12:35 p.m.

SPECIAL PROMOTION: Transit Tuesdays

Great fun and great savings are just a short ride away to Tuesday Padres games this season. For the first time, Padres fans can get $6 off most tickets for every Tuesday baseball game (April through August) at Petco Park, just for riding public transportation to the game. The first "Transit Tuesdays" game is Tuesday, April 1 at 7:05 p.m. against the Houston Astros. The $6 discount is good for any Padres ticket priced $12 or more, excluding Right Field Pavilion and Western Metal Supply Building Rooftop Bleachers. Fans can purchase Padres tickets at all Advanced Ticket Windows and the Padres will provide a discount of $6 from game-day ticket prices for each fan that shows a valid bus or trolley ticket, an MTS monthly pass or a COASTER ticket or COASTER monthly pass. Friday
For Friday night games, regularly scheduled southbound trains leaving Oceanside at 4:55 or 5:30 p.m. will get you to downtown San Diego. The late night regularly scheduled Friday northbound train #672 leaves the downtown station (Santa Fe Depot) at 10:45 p.m., or if the game runs past 9:55 p.m., 50 minutes after the final out of the game or ending of special event with an absolute departure time of 12 midnight regardless of extra innings.

Saturday
For Saturday home Padres games that begin at 7:05 p.m., passengers should catch the regularly scheduled Saturday southbound train #692 that leaves Oceanside at 5:00 p.m. This train arrives in downtown San Diego at 6:00 p.m., making all stops along the COASTER route. The late night regularly scheduled Saturday northbound train #694 leaves the downtown station (Santa Fe Depot) at 10:45 p.m., or if the game runs past 9:55 p.m., 50 minutes after the final out of the game or ending of special event with an absolute departure time of 12 midnight regardless of extra innings. New this year: train #694 departing San Diego at 10:45 p.m. will still operate on Saturday nights, even when there is no home Padres game!

For Saturday games that begin at 12:55 p.m. (scheduled for April 5, 26, August 16 and 30), a special southbound train #686 will leave Oceanside at 11:04 a.m. and arrive in downtown San Diego at approximately noon, making all stops along the COASTER route. For the return northbound trip after the game, passengers should ride train #691 which departs downtown San Diego at 5:25 p.m. or train #693 which departs at 7:25 p.m.

Sunday
For Sunday home games that begin at 1:05 p.m., a special southbound train #686 will leave Oceanside at 11:04 a.m. and arrive in downtown San Diego at approximately noon, making all stops along the COASTER route. The return northbound train for Sunday afternoon games will depart 50 minutes after the final out of the game.

To reach the ballpark, passengers should purchase a round trip COASTER ticket from the Ticket Vending Machine and use it to transfer at the Santa Fe Depot (downtown San Diego train station) to the San Diego Trolley Blue Line or Special Event line. Valid COASTER ticket holders transfer for free to the San Diego Trolley. A round trip COASTER ticket is also good for the return Trolley trip from Petco Park back to the train station after the game.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday Inland BREEZE Express buses continue to operate along the Interstate 15 corridor, coastal BREEZE Express buses are discontinued.

Santa Claus Comes to North County on the COASTER Each December
North County Transit District (NCTD) again ran a very special holiday-themed train called "Santa’s COASTER Express" featuring an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus on December 1, 2007. NCTD offered rides on this very special train for $3 per passenger, with all the proceeds ($3,300) raised given to North County’s Community Resource Center. COASTER / AMTRAK Rail2Rail Program

Rail2Rail gives COASTER monthly pass holders extra options in train travel.

The Rail2Rail program allows COASTER monthly pass holders to ride any Amtrak train between Oceanside and San Diego within the zone limis of their monthly pass.

The Power of Choice
Rail2Rail riders benefit from enhanced service options and added convenience between Oceanside and San Diego. Passengers simply show their COASTER Monthly Pass to the conductor after boarding a coach car of any Amtrak Pacific Surliner train. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner ticket holders enjoy the same great option on COASTER trains by simply showing their Amtrak ticket to the COASTER conductor.

Power in Numbers
COASTER monthly pass holders may ride any Amtrak train within the origin and destination of their zone pass -- that's up to 20 additional weekday trains. Planning your travel around convenient train service is simple and fun. For Amtrak schedules and fare information:
