NCTD Adopt a Station Program
Are you part of a group seeking to contribute to your community?
NCTD invites you to adopt one of our transit stations!
You can choose between COASTER stations, SPRINTER stations, or any other NCTD Transit Centers.
Program purpose
Create a sense of ownership. Transit stations are an asset to the communities they serve.
Give local community groups, schools, and universities the opportunity to join efforts with NCTD to maintain the cleanliness of each station and keep them attractive.
Help NCTD identify more closely with the neighborhoods it serves. Our stations are part of your community and forming a strong partnership with local groups creates unity and a welcoming, visually appealing environment at each station.
Give the opportunity to position the adopted station as a ‘gateway’ to the community.
Station sponsor responsibilities
Report significant issues related to platform and landscaping appearance.
Pick up litter at station flowerbeds and entry ways and ensure proper disposal of it.
Report vandalism, graffiti, or suspicious packages.
Station sponsor benefits
Recognition through signage displayed at the adopted station.
Demonstration of your civic pride by making the community a better place.
NCTD will provide
Space and installment of station signage.
Costs
There is a $100 fee to cover the cost of signage. The sponsoring organization must also supply their volunteers with materials and equipment to maintain and pick up litter at the station such as gloves, trash bags, and safety vests, when necessary.
Station adoption process
Those interested in participating should complete the application form. A selection panel will review all applications and make sponsor selections.
In the event more than one organization is interested in adopting a specific station, NCTD will determine the number of station sponsors based on the design of individual station platforms.
To ensure broad community involvement, NCTD may transfer responsibility for an adopted station from one organization to another after one (1) year.
NCTD reserves the right to terminate or suspend the adoption of a particular station based on the following criteria:
- Failure to comply with the rules and regulations.
- Failure to comply with safety guidelines.
- Conduct activities that are detrimental to public transit or NCTD’s business/reputation.
Sponsor requirements
Sponsors must be 18 years or older and avoid working alone whenever possible.
Sponsors must complete the agreement form, agree to safety guidelines and ensure adherence to all COASTER safety rules and regulations.
No advertising of any product or service is allowed on the adopted station.
No distribution of materials, the selling of goods or promotion of products or services may take place on NCTD property unless approved by NCTD.
Sponsors and their participants must not change, alter, or undertake repairs to the structure of any station.
Sponsors and their participants must not interfere or impede in any way with the movement of the train or riders.
