Department Information
NCTD's rail services team aims to provide safe, reliable, high quality, cost-effective rail transportation services and infrastructure to meet
the needs of our customers and co-users of the railroad.
We will do this by:
Building the SPRINTER!
Promoting staff collaboration, professionalism, and technical skills
development.
Investing in our rolling stock.
Effectively managing the existing and future rail system's services,
facilities, and properties.
Protecting and preserving District railroad assets for the benefit of
passengers and the public.
Expanding operational capabilities.
Adding operational expertise to do studies (string line analysis,
locations of passing tracks, etc.) to help in lobbying SANDAG.
Development of design and maintenance standards of rail facilities.
Providing a high quality security program at our rail facilities.
Developing an effective internal rail safety audit program.
Conducting an ongoing infrastructure inspection program (bridges,
track, signals, etc.).
Using fact-based decision making on capital investments.
Developing a capital replacement program based on the "state of good
repair" concept.
Developing a comprehensive environmental review program for District
projects including storm water permitting designation (small MS4
program).
Participating in strategies and programs as opportunities arise to
grow the transit network.
Educating the public towards safety of rail operations.
